The body is aging unevenly, as aging begins with the most important organs of the body - the eyes, the teeth and the brain, These organs lose their capabilities before other parts of the body.
Nature Nanotechnology reports that the aging of these organs causes a chain reaction to the impairment of other organ functions, which can work for years. So fortunately, after these organs get back on, some operations can be stopped. For example, the proteins of the retinal cell receptors are consumed with each new amount of light reaching them. But thanks to nanotechnology, the normal state of these cells can be restored.
The Center for Synaptic Neuroscience and Technology scientists at the Italian Center for Nano Science and Technology and their colleagues from the universities of Pisa, Milan, Granada and in cooperation with the experts of Genoa, Negar and Mantoi Hospital conducted a study and experiments, the results of which showed that any receptor in the body receives any type of signal and then Sending it through the nervous system has a special mechanism that allows it to receive that signal. But all of these receptors have one task: to convert the stimulus’s energy, such as pressure on the skin or a photon, into an electrical signal that the brain understands.
Therefore, in the case of the retina, the signal conversion process consumes light-sensitive retina proteins, which leads to poor vision and ultimately stops working. But the nanoparticles created by scientists replace these receptors and return the retina to its usual work, which returns the sense of sight to humans.
This process requires only one microscopic injection in the vacuum located in front of the retina, where nanoparticles are distributed over the spent neurons, and start functioning. The results of experiments on rats confirmed that there were no side effects of this process, and that it remained effective for 8 months. It turns out that these minutes (measuring 300 nanometers) do not penetrate the nerve cell, but rather remain on its outer surface.
According to experts, this is the simplest surgical intervention in the eye compared to other procedures, in addition to that the nanoparticles restore vision completely. So if this method is adopted in hospitals, It will become very easy to restore sight for the elderly.
